Prachi Dutta, a renowned personality from the television industry has joined us on The Brand Called You today! Mrs. Dutta is the Founder of Kalakar Collective Trust. She is an experienced media professional and a filmmaker for children. She’s a theatre artist, singer, writer, composer, and a mom!

After completing her studies in film from XIC Mumbai, Mrs. Dutta immediately joined the broadcasting industry. She played different roles within the industry and got excellent exposure to creative and talented people. After spending about ten to twelve years in the industry, Mrs. Dutta quit due to boredom and repetitive content.

Mrs. Dutta put forth some very strong points regarding the position of India in classical art appreciation. She spoke about the culture being left far behind and the reducing importance of performing arts. She also enlightened the audience about her venture Kalakar Collective Trust. It’s focus is helping upcoming artists and becoming a community of educators of Arts.

This conversation was a wake up call for the citizens of our country as we have made one of our purest art forms insignificant.

Hi, I am a performing arts aficionado! I have been working to revive and rejuvenate the love for classical arts among Gurgaon wasis as Founder of Kal-Aakaar Collective. Kal-Aakaar Collective is a performing arts trust an academy with 5 centers and over 150 students learning Indian Music, Dance forms and Theatre, under Gharana Gurus.

Avirbhav – an initiative of Kal-Aakaar Collective Trust – is an immersive monthly performing arts platform that invites eminent artists from the world of Music, Dance and Theatre to its stage and aims to create a vibrant cultural community in Gurugram for families. We truly believe that the corner stone of any community is its cultural practices and exposure. Our hope is to engage with younger audiences not just to encourage future artists but also future art lovers and patrons!

Avirbhav started with a simple question – we asked our students if they have seen a traditional or non-Bollywood performance on stage – the answer was an overwhelming – no! Avirbhav is our way to inspire, awe and get the youngsters to connect and engage with eminent artists!

Avirbhav has since gained momentum as a project that works on multi-levels. To –  

  • Revive a cultural community in Gurugram and create a platform which can become a regular well-attended feature month after month for families. Our aim is revive and rejuvenate the love for arts amongst children and young adults.

 

  • Build a physical and an online community of classical arts – in music, dance, and theatre.

 

  • To provide a platform for upcoming young artists

 

  • To provide a platform for collaborations between artists and curate and create outstanding performances that can travel extensively.

To create opportunities  for advanced  students through interactions with senior musicians and artists, Mentor programs, Master classes, Ensemble Creations  

 

Starting with the first event; with the Krintan Collective, which brought together Indian and international musicians for an electrifying evening of world music; each event has grown from strength to strength.

We have had Kathak, Dastangoi, Sufi Qawaals and Musical evenings with acclaimed artists such as Susmit Sen, Fouzia Dastaango – India’s only female Dastangoi artist, the Niazi Nizami brothers, the Kathakaars and the Trialogue Theatre Company, The Manganiars; Project Gangani and The Ujwal Nagar Project enthralling the audience with their craft.

From its inception in 2018, the series has and is extensively viewed and shared on social media. Our digital reach has gone up to 100,000 people at each event with the videos being shared extensively.
