Who doesn’t love sports? But not everyone is a sportsman. One requires good perseverance and mental strength combined with physical energy to become a good sportsperson. Making a career in the field of sports is all the more daunting as you also have to be able to make a good living besides performing well. The entire gamut of striking deals, entering into contracts and getting endorsements is a time and energy consuming process. Hence, comes into play the sports management and coaching agencies who help sports persons and athletes to make a career out of the sports.

[03:16] – What goes into managing a sports person?
- The basis of it is procuring and negotiating endorsement deals.
- You are preparing and negotiating endorsement deals for them, while also managing their careers and helping them identify opportunities outside their sport, to build their personal brand.
- We were dealing with young kids who were missing out on high school and college, which are really critical developmental years.
- I took that to heart to make sure that they were learning life lessons that were transferable outside of them being professional athletes.
[05:24] – Tell me about Sports Management Mastermind. What is the work you’re doing here?
- After 17 years of being a sports agent, and representing the most incredible athletes, I transitioned into doing business growth, consulting and coaching.
- Another agent friend of mine came to me and said, “Hey, listen, you have so much experience of knowledge, how about we teach class.?”
- We saw a lot of up-and-coming athletes and families not really knowing how to navigate the landscape of sponsorship or how to navigate their careers.
- We created a live virtual four week class that goes through the four pillars of building a successful career.
- We started that in 2021, and we run the four-week course around four times a year.
- This education is for people who want to get into the business of sports management, or for the athletes.
