Overview
YPO has more gold members when compared to the younger generation which means the younger people are not seeing enough value in working with YPO Next Generation. Also, if we really want to create a positive difference in the world then we need to work on a cumulative basis so the whole world can benefit as a result. For that, YPO also needs to work on attracting the younger generation. Today, we talk to Santiago about how all this can be achieved and more.

- Santiago is currently the Global Impact Officer on the global board of YNG (YPO Next Generation), where he oversees the vision statement of the organization: “To develop the next conscious leaders of the future” for the 20,000+ YNG members globally.
- His goal is to hand YNGers the opportunities and leverage to generate value as they shape, their leadership impactfully.
- This may be through the various International Initiatives, events, programs, and Networks that YPO/YNG can generate.
01:01 – What were some of the inflection points that created the person you are today?
- My dad was one of the people that I was always looking up to. He was the one that invoked leadership in me at a very young age.
- My mom was another person that helped me become the person that I am. She inspired me by being a role model of strength. She did so much for the family and sacrificed for the family. She gave us the best education possible.
- The other thing was that I loved to help people. From a very young age, I had the opportunity to help people and I found out that my passion was in helping people.
10:16 – What interested you in taking the Entrepreneurship Harvard Business School Summer Class?
- My father was my mentor from a very young age and I had started asking questions about the big companies and their franchises my dad introduced me to the term entrepreneur which was the ignition for my interest in this field.
- That place really inspired me to pursue entrepreneurship, not just in the sense of getting a feeling of achievement but also in terms of being able to build something that can have a lasting impact.
- I also get a very good feeling when I am able to help people in any way which pushed me in the direction of entrepreneurship so that I can do something significant.
31:08 – How did you get involved with the Global Internet Internship Program?
- I was a member of the Latin American Board of YNG during the time of the pandemic. I had a call in which I met Diana Daniels who is a member of YPO.
- She was just starting this internship program to encounter the chaos that was created because of the covid at that time.
- She intended to create jobs inside YNG and wanted to expand that idea to Latin America and that was when both of us connected for the first time.
36:42 – What do you hope to do with this Global Impact Summit?
- In my opinion, it is the most passionate event that YPO can bring to some members, and we have an amazing opportunity to get invited to this event.
- We have an opportunity to make a very good impression at the summit so that the YPO can see better why they should have us as an asset in the next Global Summits to come.
- The concept of impact in different places is very different because it is abstract in its very meaning. We can interact with people from different parts of the world and can work towards the betterment of the whole world as a team for a better future.
