Ashok is the Chairman and Managing Trustee of the Akshara Foundation. He is the former Managing Director of Analog devices, India. Ashok is also the Co Founder and Trustee of Pratham books. And he is the Trustee of Shreyas Foundation. In 2019, Ashok received the Namma Bengaluru Award. Currently Ashok is the secretary for the IIT Alumni Center Bengaluru.

He further shares why he made the decision of switching from a comfortable and well paid corporate job, towards the development sector.

Ashok Kamath has been Managing Trustee since 2003 and Chairman of Akshara Foundation (https://akshara.org.in/ ) since July 1, 2008. He has been actively involved in the strategic planning, analysis and expansion of programmes at every stage. An alumnus of IIT-Bombay, he was formerly the Managing Director of the Indian operations of Analog Devices. He opted to leave behind a successful career in the corporate sector and involve himself in the development sector.
In April 2019, he was conferred the prestigious ‘Namma Bengalurean’ award( https://www.nammabengaluruawards.org/portfolio/ashok-kamath/) for exemplary work in education. His alma mater, IIT-Bombay, presented him with its Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2013 for his various initiatives and contributions to the field of child education. Ashok is also a Co-Founder and Trustee of Pratham Books ( https://prathambooks.org/ ) and Trustee of Shreyas Foundation, Ahmedabad (http://shreyasfoundation.in/).
