[02:56] – What is Fiat?
- We want to democratize how people move money from one country to another. Another motivation is to end currency exchange manipulation.
- Paying fee is not the only money you lose in international transactions, but the problem is that one doesn’t even realise the amount of money being lost on the way.
- On our platform, we can send money in three different ways:
- We take out the middleman, money transfer agents, and banks.
- Every country has local currency shops, that usually offer the best rates, but are not online. They don’t depend on banks, but directly on the source. We provide platform to these folks and get them onboard.
[09:07] – How do you, at FiatMatch, manage risk?
- We have a very robust system of security, with three different systems.
- When a customer registers, their name runs through over a thousand sanctions.
- The second step includes verifying if the submitted ID is valid.
[12:10] – How are you handling foreign exchange laws of multiple countries?
- We realized that governments are part of the problems because they are the biggest player in the market. They don’t have the need to innovate because they know there is a huge barrier to entry.
- We would look for a country or a partner that has a license but does not use it for money transfers.
- We have partnered with those folks that have enabled us to do transactions in those countries.
- The goal of Fiat Match is that we want to build a universal bank and not just a money transfer solution.
