07:21- What is a WiFi Map and why was it started?
- There was a need for people to know places where they could get free internet. We decided to crowdsource to map free WiFi locations. We offered limited functionality in the free version and drove users to the paid version for five bucks.
- None of the VCs liked that idea. None of the angels saw any means for us to monetize it. We didn’t go after any funding and bootstrapped the whole process.
- Ten years later we have 170 million downloads with 5 million monthly active users. We offer ECM plans in 72 countries, we also offer VPN and different utility functions that help travellers.
17:02- Are the milestones for your product key milestones for you too?
- I try to be a well-rounded individual. I try to be a good businessman, good father, and a good husband. To me, it’s a combination of things.
- I’ve always looked for opportunities. The WiFi map came very close to my heart and then overtook my life completely.
- We launched our cryptocurrency which I’ve been dreaming about for about four years, waiting for the right opportunity. So that was a big milestone for us and me.
