[10:43] – What is it like to be a lawyer in Europe?
- In the Netherlands, becoming a lawyer differs from my experience, as I’ve never practised there.
- Law studies begin at age 18 after completing high school (grade 12).
- Over 30 years ago, students immediately decided to study law, focusing on law subjects.
- The first year, called “propa,” requires graduation, and then students can continue.
- After two years, specialisation options open, such as becoming a fiscal lawyer.
- For those wanting to practise law, a law degree is followed by an internship at a law firm.
- During the internship, tasks like writing articles are undertaken before becoming a member of the bar.
