  • My early career, particularly my work at the A.N. Sinha Institute of Social Studies and my research on decision-making processes in government departments shaped my understanding of organisational bureaucracy and inefficiencies. 
  • The analysis of decision-making delays in a government department led me to suggest reducing steps in the process, an experience that informed my approach to management and organisational improvements.

  • Common behaviours that demotivate employees include toxic organisational cultures characterised by coercion, threats, and intimidation. 
  • A lack of career development opportunities, recognition, and rewards for good work also contribute to demotivation.

  • In times of crisis, such as downsizing, employees may fear losing their jobs, which can demotivate them. 
  • Leaders can counter this by offering reassurance, being transparent about future plans, and highlighting career advancement opportunities for those who remain.
