00:42- About Alexander Zheltov
- Alex is the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Educate Online, which is a global education and technology company dedicated to making education accessible worldwide.
- He’s also been recognized as a Forbes 30 under 30.
- In 2021, Educate Online won a Forbes award for the best-emerging startup, and Alex was offered a position on the esteemed Forbes Council.
11:03- How do you address the digital divide?
- When we started the company in 2018, internet costs were extremely high in places like Egypt and Nigeria, with households paying up to $500 a month for service.
- We’ve developed a device that stores content locally and acts as a router, allowing around 50 or 60 students to access materials in areas with low internet connectivity.
- This device costs about $100 to produce and is likely to be a more affordable solution compared to options like Starlink, especially in regions where the internet is still a significant issue.
24:24- What lessons have you learned from your entrepreneurial journey that a lot of viewers and listeners can take away from?
- The first lesson is to be authentic, staying true to who you are and how you naturally lead, rather than trying to change your style to be more results-driven.
- I learned that when I tried to adapt my leadership approach, I lost the strong connection I had with my team, and things started to fall apart.
- It’s essential to express gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the journey and to recognize that success is a collective effort.
