Profile
he joined The Tata Iron and Steel Company (now Tata Steel) in 1968. Irani became general superintendent of the company in 1978, general manager in 1979, president in 1985, made Director in 1998 and finally at the top as Managing Director in 1992. Irani remained at the helm of affairs till his retirement from the company in 2001.
He had joined the board of Tata Motors in June 1993. He was also a director with Tata Sons.
