- We launched a revolution, and very often people who launch a revolution don’t realize what they have launched.
- We have taken a concept that used to be very nebulous, ‘INFORMATION’.
- We are not any better than other inventors, enforcing the consequences of our invention.

- What are the rules, who is responsible, and what are the rules in the metaverse?
- There are no rules. It’s kind of wild. We need to really take it very seriously. And think very hard what is the purpose of the metaverse other than that Facebook wants to make more money.
14:06- What happens to privacy on an open platform like metaverse?
- The paradox of privacy is that we are giving away our privacy.
- We are willing to give away tiny bits of information about ourselves.
- One of the things that are very hard for the human mind to comprehend is the accumulated impact of very small actions.

Moshe Y. Vardi is University Professor and the Karen Ostrum George Distinguished Service Professor of Computational Engineering. He currently leads the Technology, Culture, and Society Initiative at Rice University.
He chaired the Computer Science Department at Rice University from 1994 utill 2002, and led the Ken Kennedy Institute for Information Technology at Rice University from 2001 until 2019.
