00:40- About Leif Edvinsson
- Professor Leif Edvinsson is a key pioneering contributor to the theory and practice of Intellectual Capital(IC).Â
- The world’s first director of IC in 1991. Prototyping in 1996 the Skandia Future Center as Lab for Organizational design.Â
- In 1998, awarded by Brain Trust “Brain of the Year” award, in the UK. Listed in Who’s Who in the world.
08:12 – Is it going to be a gray area when describing intellectual capital?
- This is why the Securities and Exchange Commission was so eager to describe it in an orderly manner.
- That might be detrimental because it is probably a rosy area where you don’t know what the future will be.
- Then I started to develop the concept of navigator because you don’t know where you are moving.Â
13:43 – How do you help people improve their intellectual capital?
- I start by taking the initial salary as a proxy to assess their intellectual capital to form a base from where we can start. But that is just the first indication of it.
- The correct assessment is the value that you are adding to your organization.Â
- There are a number of inroads to get to actually get an idea of someone’s intellectual capital.Â
24:30 – Where do you get your inspiration from?
- My inspiration was coming very much from the context and culture of Berkley because the whole educational program there was very different from Sweden.
- The next critical dimension is traveling. I have been among different cultures. I have been to around 100 different countries in the world now.
- The third key area for my inspiration is soft knowledge. What it means is that how you make the world more innovative not for you but for the coming generation.
