[00:22] – About Mark Feller

- He is also an advertising professional.
- Mark has ten years of experience producing advertising campaigns and creating creative concepts, sales, and marketing strategies.
02:46-How seriously is sustainability being taken in boardrooms mark?
- I think now that it makes money, and then we have actually, the awareness has come up, and you actually have a customer base that cares, it’s becoming very serious.
- It’s all about making money and looking good on social media.
- When I say looking good on social media, it’s like, what are your morals, your values? What are your likes and your dislikes, I break it down as an advertiser to get you up from the couch at two in the morning and go buy Doritos or something to that nature.
- So now sustainability is really, really getting important because you have the customer base, it’s all about the consumer supply and demand.
- And now people are starting to ask questions, hence the greenwashing.
06:49-How does culture impact sustainability?
- Firstly, yes culture does affect sustainability.
-
- The next thing is, shouldn’t sustainability become the culture?
- Once we have a culture that accepts sustainability, and I’m going to take an American, point of view of gender equality, and civil rights, all these things that were impossible, have become possible.
- So I’m thinking, once this is the culture, then we don’t have to talk so much, and it’s going to be normal.
- I also think education is a big one, we need to have a baseline a sustainable educational baseline.
- Globalization is in full swing. However, there are different cultural perceptions of this whole thing. But I think the teachings are all the same.
- There is one planet and we share a culture. But I think there are probably different approaches to teaching the same subject.
11:36-How can capitalism work for the planet?
- We don’t have a better system. We’ve tried communism and it didn’t work. Capitalism is the current system.
- So I think it’s going to come down to the consumer a little bit. It’s all fueled by the consumer, we finance it all.
- If you have a more educated consumer, I think the industry will have to react to supply and demand.
- And there has to be some kind of social change.
- And unfortunately, more bad things need to happen for us to accelerate this business.
- The government is moving, but it needs to be accelerated.
- We’re just really lagging behind by 30 years.
