00:37 – About Archana Dutta

  • Archana Dutta is the founder & CEO of SecondAct. She is also a co-founder of Pedal On.
  • Archana is the host of a podcast called Discover your Second Act.
  • She is also the Co-Curator at The Coffee Beans.

01:10- What is SecondAct?

  • In March 2020, I realized that it was now time for me to discover my second act.
  • SecondAct is that platform where I’m bringing things which helped me to grow as a person, as a human, as an individual, as an employee, and as a leader.
  • I could speak about them, and bring these little tools and techniques through workshops, retreats, seminars, webinars, or speaker sessions, that can impact somebody’s life, which could be a second act for them.
  • The tagline says, learning through conversations, so it’s not that I just go and deliver something, it’s always a platform for the exchange of thoughts.

10:59- What are some of your own unique perspectives that you bring to a coaching relationship with your coachee?

  • The first thing that I tried to do is to completely do deep listening.
  • I think that is something that’s still missing, we’re still very engaged with our own thoughts, if not thoughts then gadgets.
  • I think that the smallest of things, which we don’t realize is giving proper attention to the person who may be presenting or speaking.
  • When we give time to somebody, that’s the greatest value we are creating for that person. And that is the biggest thing that you can bring to your coaching role.

21:10-  What would you say are three lessons that you’d like our viewers and listeners to take away?

  • The first thing is that you are your friend, open up to yourself. We are in such denial most of our life that we don’t open up to ourselves.
  • Secondly, come out of your guilt. The blame game that we play with ourselves is a detriment to our own growth. I think every phase of life is to be learned without guilt.
  • The third is that do something that people will remember you for, and you will be known for. So for every action of yours ask if it really brings value to somebody’s life. That is something that I’m trying to do.
