Dr. Garg and Dr. Rosenberg indulged in a very interesting discussion about the relationship of India and Israel. Dr. Rosenberg described India as a country of diverse and rich culture that attracts hundreds of Israeli students for further education. He described Israel as a country free of authority and hierarchy. Talking about his career, he threw light on the work he has done as a scientist and inventor. He has mastered the subject of bad breath with intense research and solutions for about thirty years! He had also written books about the same. Dr. Rosenberg is extremely passionate about passing on life lessons to children. He has written many such books based on his experience and firmly propagates it. A multifaceted personality, Dr.Rosenberg has given back to the society immensely. He works in different fields and contributed greatly to each of these fields!

Prof. Mel Rosenberg is a university and college professor, inventor, public speaker, musician and children’s book writer. He is currently Professor in the Engineering Faculty at Shenkar College where he teaches a course in success skills of the digital future. He is co-founder of Ourboox.com, a self-publishing platform. He is also an author of children’s books and a professional musician. He has organized three TEDx events at Shenkar College, and managed the Keter Innovation Center. Previously he was a professor in the Faculty of Design at HIT (Holon Institute of Technology) where he taught courses in creative thinking, children’s book writing, and personal skill development.
He was also a Professor and Dean of Students at Afeka College. He spent his main career as Professor of Microbiology at Tel Aviv University where he currently teaches academic courses in popular music. Prof. Rosenberg received his Ph.D. (Microbiology, 1982) and M.Sc. (Botany, 1975) from Tel-Aviv University and his B.Sc. (Chemistry and Biochemistry, 1973) from the Hebrew University. He has published over a hundred scientific articles, reviews and books, has received international awards and held honorary academic positions at the University of London, University of Pennsylvania, University of Toronto and University of Rochester. He has delivered lectures and seminars around the world.
His research has led to a series of inventions, commercialized by Tel-Aviv University, yielding over $3 million in royalties and licensing fees. Prof. Rosenberg has organized national and international meetings, formed an international scientific organization (International Society for Breath Odor Research), acted as editor of several scientific journals and editor-in-chief of an international scientific journal (Journal of Breath Research). He has initiated and overseen a variety of courses and educational programs. He joined Tel Aviv University as a lecturer in 1983, becoming associate professor in 1991 and full professor in 1997.
After taking early retirement, Prof. Rosenberg served as Dean of Students at Afeka Tel Aviv College of Engineering (2009-2011) where he initiated a series of events, conferences and courses to promote creative and interdisciplinary thinking and also headed the general courses program. From 2011-2015, Prof. Rosenberg was at the Holon Institute of Technology (HIT). He held various positions there, including Advisor to the President, and Head of the Center for Academic Innovation. Prof. Rosenberg was born in Canada and immigrated to Israel in 1969. He served in the IDF from 1976-8. He is married with two children and one granddaughter. He is fluent in Hebrew and English, and conversant in French, Russian and Arabic.
