09:47- What goes into building and maintaining a strong organisational culture?

  • Be intentional and clear on the culture from the top, hire individuals who are culture carriers, and promote those individuals as well.
  • Be very clear and intentional in your communications about what’s expected if you’re going to be successful at that firm.
  • Do the due diligence of a company’s culture and values, and make sure they are aligned with the culture and values that are important to you – “I want to work for a company whose culture and values are aligned with mine.”

17:26- How do you guide individuals in the building and enhancing their brands?

  • Your brand is critical in maximizing your career success – the ability to define it for yourself, but most importantly, to align it and make sure the way you think you’re coming across is the way other people are receiving you.
  • People think their positive brand attributes and opportunity areas are one thing, and when they ask for alignment, they find out it may not be, and that’s the problem.
  • Understanding your brand and how you present yourself is important because everybody is always assessing – “Who’s this? What’s this guy all about? Is he sincere and authentic?”
