Overview

Life often surprises us with unexpected twists and turns, leading us down paths we never imagined we would tread. Such is the case of Ike Cha a man whose journey began with a deep-rooted desire to serve a higher purpose but ultimately led him to carve his own path as an entrepreneur.

In this episode, we delve into the remarkable story of Ike’s transformation from a budding priest to a trailblazing entrepreneur, exploring the profound lessons learned along the way.

00:34- About Ike Cha

  • Ike Cha is the Chairman & CEO of Lionshare.
  • Ike Cha is a leader, visionary, entrepreneur, and philanthropist.
  • He is an advocate for entrepreneurs and his ethos, vision, drive, and passion are to contribute to South Africa and Africa’s progress.
  • He studied Industrial Psychology at UCT (University of Cape Town) and followed this up with an MBA and went on to spend his early and mid-working years at Coca-Cola and Procter and Gamble.

06:53- What influenced you to become an entrepreneur?

  • When I took that test in the university, I was involved in buying and selling secondhand vehicles.
  • In order to support my university fees, I had three jobs, including driving as an Uber for students attending parties at night.
  • Even back then, my life didn’t fit the typical student mold.
  • It was evident that traits of entrepreneurship were already at play.
  • Part of it was driven by survival instinct, as entrepreneurs often have a fear of failure and a constant drive to make things work.

12:12- What is a successful company for you?

  • To me, successful companies are those where the entire ecosystem of stakeholders, from the top management to the employees at the bottom, genuinely love and believe in the company.
  • It’s about creating an environment where even a security guard, if asked, would express their passion for working for the company and seeing it as a part of themselves.
  • If that level of dedication and belief is not present, then there is room for improvement and work to be done.
