Dave recalls his journey as he graduated as a nurse but went on to work as a virtual assistant in the Philippines. He talks about discovering earning mechanisms online.
As he grew with his company, he got involved in editing podcasts for them. Gradually, he picked up interest and ventured into forming his team of 8 to 10 people.
Dave shares his thoughts on the difference in content consumption in countries like the US to India and the Philippines.
He says, “I feel in countries like India and Philippines, it is fairly new and not a lot of podcasters around. It is like the blue ocean, you start anything and be known for it.”
Challenges
Dave focuses on knowing the content properly before venturing into making a podcast. He feels only having a good “why” makes one keep going.
He explains, “Sometimes podcasters don’t even know where they are going. So that is a common mistake.”
Technology and Trends in Podcasts
Dave agrees that technological developments are helping a great deal in podcasting too. There are multiple apps to fix audio glitches, ways to get an audience by sharing snippets of hour-long content, monetization through advertisement insertions.
He also shares his thoughts on the trends of putting out videos with audio content. He says, “Google is the number one search engine, YouTube is the next one.”
With people looking for answers in “how to do” tutorials, videos help to reach a wider audience. Dave also shares a great deal about the monetization of podcasts.
Future of Podcasts
Dave shows an immense belief in the podcasts and feels the trend to only grow in the future. He feels as it is available to a certain section today, it will grow on to get local and reach more people.
Dave also shares his thoughts on maintaining a decent level of online presence to be not left behind. He calls it making a “footprint” which is important to strive and thrive.
