03:14 – Help me understand your mantra – we are stronger than our struggles

  • It is not just one of my affirmations, I feel I have actually lived it. All of us face challenges in our lives, and they come in various sizes.
  • Sometimes we face humongous challenges such as cancer, and it is in those moments that our animal instincts of fight and flight get triggered.
  • I had great people in my life who pushed me to try harder to get beyond my pain, and I am very thankful to those people.

09:09 – Why do people avoid talking about cancer?

  • I think there are mainly three types of people. One is those who have never been impacted by it, so they don’t know much about it. And if you don’t know much about it, you don’t really have an opinion on it.
  • The second is those who are afraid to talk about it, maybe because it makes them realize the mortality and fragility of life.
  • The third is the people who are afraid of the consequences because we don’t exactly know how it will impact us and there is no solid cure for it.

17:49 – How does culture impact coaching?

  • Culture impacts beliefs and our beliefs impact how we respond to everything. So, our values and beliefs are impacted by our culture to a large extent.
  • Coaching is always done at the belief level if we want the changes to be long-lasting. So I have to be really cognizant of the beliefs that I bring to the table.
  • I have to not get biased because of my beliefs and I also have to be really aware of the assumptions that my clients have and work on them.
