Overview

We live in a highly polarised world, where we are divided either towards conservatism or liberalism. With journalism becoming politically aligned, several minorities lose their voice in the raging screams of the news anchors. Several people have come forward, across the globe, to launch independent platforms for giving voice to the niche or the minority communities. Today, we discuss one such platform, Xizzle TV launched by an Emmy Award winner Kirk Gimenez who solely focuses on giving a voice to the immigrant community.

[00:45] – About Kirk Gimenez

  • Kirk is the founder of Xizzle TV.
  • He is a two-time Emmy winner.
  •  He is a TV personality and a content creator.
  • Kirk was the first Latin American hired to anchor on ESPN news.

[04:11] – How has been your transition from being a journalist and a news anchor to becoming an entrepreneur?

  • I’ve learned so much over the last two years since I first became an entrepreneur. I wish I could go back in time and teach myself these things before I launched Xizzle TV.
  • I like to do interviews like you do it with business, entrepreneurial, inspirational, and motivational kind of people, so I can parlay some of that knowledge.

[05:33] – What was your motivation to start a TV channel and what areas do you normally cover?

  • I am a Latin American, and we are a minority in the USA. We all speak ingest our media in English, so I wanted to give us those English-speaking Latinos a platform to tell around stories and motivate through lifestyle, entertainment and wellness content.
  •  I want Xizzle TV to be a safe place for multiculturalism to tell those stories that regular media really don’t care.
  • I wanted to sound a spotlight that the more we think we’re different the more alike we are and that has been my education with every interview and every connection I make.
  •  Anyone who has a multicultural background has to have that realization that we’re more alike than we are different.

[10:09] – How is technology changing television?

  • Today, everyone is a journalist and a content creator.
  • You are just limited by your imagination. So with that understanding, I realized that I no longer need to work for another entity.
  •  I have the skill, the expertise, desire and passion to do what I want and broadcast the messages that I want.
  • I teach practical tips for media and presentation skills because back in the day I used to teach only interns who want to be reporters and anchors. Now everyone needs those tips because everyone is broadcasting.
