[00:35] – About Katharine Lee

- She is a coach and a consultant.

[01:27] – What do you do at “By The Horns?”
- I work with individuals and organizations in both the coaching and consulting capacity to really help them define and create their futures.
- By The Horns means to take your problems by the horns and tackle it.
- I came up with that name when contemplating my personal aspirations. The concept was simple: I wanted to seize my future and pursue it wholeheartedly.
- It deeply resonates with those I work with because, typically, when someone reaches out to me, they are already prepared to take the leap and seize control of their future, determined to stride confidently towards their goals.
[03:34] -What does an accountability mindset mean, and why is it crucial for everyone to adopt it?
- The first step is to dispel the notion that accountability is inherently negative. Many people mistakenly associate it with punishment, blame, or incompetence. However, accountability is not about pointing fingers or finding fault.
- It is about fostering trust, ownership, and accountability, not just for yourself but also for those you work with, whether it be your team, other employees, or daily interactions with colleagues.
- It involves cultivating accountability, enabling you to make decisions for yourself and those around you, rather than merely choices.
[06:04] – How do you help leaders identify and overcome blind spots?
- A lot of it is through asking questions, listening, and helping leaders become more self-aware and helping leaders to recognize different habits and behaviors that may be holding them back.
- Only when there is that increased self-awareness, insights around those behaviors and habits that leaders are really able to recognize these blind spots.
- It is not something that happens overnight, it really tends to happen through a lot of question asking on my part, really listening, following through.
- It’s a journey that takes time but if someone’s willing to put in the work to really have those honest answers and have that self-reflection then they are able to realize the benefits of identifying their blind spots.
