01:46- Moving from Banking and Finance into Tech Startup
- To be a part of the solution, to be a part of anything we can contribute while we’re walking on planet earth, it’s been a
- north star for me.
- I sought to strike that balance of how can I do what I love and also afford to do what I love, and find something that has the potential down the road to bring all of these things together.
07:57- Transition to building BrightLine
- Ten years later, after having restructured 10 corporations around the world, I sat down with my then partner who made me the president of the company.
- They said, I believe we need to open up the ambit of what we’re doing, and we need to climb outside this industry.
- And everything that we do where change management is concerned can be applied in so many contexts.
- There’s just one problem with that, and that is what we’re doing isn’t broken, it doesn’t need to be fixed.
15:38- What motivates you?
- Truth motivates me.
- You will take accountability for the gap between what you’re expecting to achieve as a company and what your employees are equipped to deliver to you.
16:49- How do you recognize the truth?
- It comes from a deep place inside.
- It is the ability to continually challenge yourself and to question why you believe, and what you believe.
17:53- About U.S. SustainChain
- SustainChain is an extension of a vision that was formed as a result of the relationships built and revelations of being in the trenches of the famine belts of Africa.
23:47- Advice
- You have to have the desire and if you have the desire then you have the audacity, and you have the persistence.
- Those are the things that will force the kind of focus you need to know whether you can balance more than one thing.
- You need to do that and then prioritize what it means to succeed on both those paths and then step back and see can I do it.
