00:33- About Michael Haupt

- He is developing the Collab of Southern African Resilience (CSAR) as a collaborative network of visionary business and government leaders.
- Michael is prototyping solutions for rural community empowerment in the Valley of Grace, Western Cape.
14:59- How does economic resilience work for individuals across the world?
- What we’re describing is a holonic structure, where resilience starts at the individual level, and then scales up to the family, community, city, country, and globally.
- We tried to build short-term resilience within the fragile neoliberal system through savings, stockpiles, and self-sufficiency, but these are temporary solutions.
- Long-term resilience requires a community-based approach, with grassroots movements emerging from the bottom, building trust, and creating systems like local currencies to support each other.
17:41- Tell me about social resilience, and how it plays a critical role in a community to withstand a crisis.
- Every time an empire nears its end, you will see more social disruptions and riots, as frustration builds within the population and the social fabric frays.
- Those at the top of the power pyramid implement systems of more control, knowing this pattern of unrest repeats throughout history.
- In smaller communities, the focus should be on building resilience and social bonds, where people work together and support each other when systems and supply chains break down.
