Overview

Telling real-life stories through film can be a powerful way to create awareness, educate, and inspire change. Real-life stories have the potential to connect with audiences on a deep emotional level and can serve as a catalyst for social change. In this episode, the host, Ashutosh Garg, interviews Richa Khandelwal Bhat, the CEO of Keshava Productions Private Limited and the managing director of Narayana’s ArtNirbhar Bharat Foundation.

00:40- About Richa Khandelwal Bhat

  • Richa is the Chief Executive Officer of Keshava Productions Private Limited.
  • She is the Managing Director of Narayana’s ArtNirbhar Bharat Foundation.
  • She has also been elected state president of the Karnataka Animation Entertainment Council, WICCI, (Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry).

03:14- About Keshava Productions

  • Keshava Productions is our brainchild conceived almost 10 years back.
  • And the idea was to create original content from India for the global market.
  • We have created this company to tell original, inspiring, and authentic stories from India.

06:08- What goes into making a great film?

  • Every brilliant film looks new, each time you watch it.
  • I make a lot of documentary films. And now I’m moving into mainstream content.
  • I pick up subjects that are closer to life and real characters.

08:55- What is the difference between a film for the corporate sector and a social subject?

  • My journey from being a reporter telling facts to be a fiction content creator, delving into the realm of imagination, which is for me the most significant victory.
  • I enjoy the experience of telling my story.  Your characters are surrounding you everywhere you see, you see the shots everywhere, you hear the music, and you can place your characters in that scenario, and come up with dialogue so that experience of working on fiction is amazing.
  • When working with corporates we’re a service provider there.

14:38- Cinema / TV / Digital media mirrors society and has the power to influence society.

  • Media is the agenda setter for the public. That’s what we are taught as Media students.
  • We show a certain value system that becomes society’s value system. And that starts impacting our content.
  • For the speedy delivery of the content, people have to adhere to the story arc of the hero versus the villain.
  • I want to break that and come up with something new, because we need to go back to innocence and simplicity.
