Overview
We see a number of leadership styles and approaches across the world. While some leaders believe in hands-on leadership and involvement, others prefer guiding others from the back. Each style and approach is unique in its own way.
A type of leadership that is extremely relevant today but not known to many is Visual and Thought leadership. Today TBCY brings you a coach who is also a one-of-a-kind leader.
We are pleased to welcome a tall leader and coach from the United States, Todd Cherches.

About Big Blue Gumball LLC
A unique venture starting from the name itself, BBG is a training and consulting firm that encourages people to become leaders. Todd explains the meaning behind the jolly name of the venture;
“It represents the world. I don’t know if you have gumballs in India- little candy. So not everyone knows what they are but a big blue gumball is a metaphor. We do a lot of work around metaphor and storytelling and visuals so the world to us is like a big blue gumball. It represents the world, the earth and the globe.
We specialize in helping make the world a better place, one manager at a time and one leader at a time. To us, everyone is a leader! So that’s our starting principle. We do management leadership consulting training and coaching.”
Todd shares his patented visual methodology and explains its relevance in detail. He talks about visual leadership and why it is so important for stronger and better communication. Visual thinking changes communication to a great extent
Why are visuals important?
Visuals have the power to make anything interesting. If visuals are used in education, it has proved to get more engagement and attention from the students. Similarly, visuals used for presentations and programs make it better for the viewers to understand the content.
I always say it (visuals) improves three areas: attention, comprehension and retention. I talk about this in my Ted Talk on the power of Visual Thinking. When you use visuals, when you use pictures, when you use visual language or metaphor, first of all it captures people’s attention because it’s more interesting.
Secondly it increases comprehension so people can understand what you’re saying and thirdly it increases retention because people will remember better if you use visuals or visual language than if you didn’t. So those are, I would say three powerful reasons why visuals are so effective in getting our ideas across, especially across cultures and language barriers.
Visuals play the biggest role in removing any culture barriers because it becomes easier for people to understand each other’s conversations through visuals.
Other important points discussed:
Further into the conversation, Ashutosh and Todd discuss the effect of the pandemic on leaders and how leaders across the world are managing work from home conditions. They also talk about the Global Institute fo rThought Leadership and about Todd’s ranking on the Thinkers 360 list.
Todd highlights some important qualities leaders should possess in order to stay in the long haul. Todd believes that by coaching leaders, he is helping them guide others who in turn will help hundreds of individuals. It is essentially like a chain of helping each other!
His advice to the youngsters is pretty simple:
“It’s not a path. It’s a roller coaster and you’re gonna have ups and downs and twists and turns but write it out and learn from everything!”
