- My journey with the IEEE started when I became part of the International Panel for the Regulation of autonomous weapons, initiated by the government of former Chancellor Angela Merkel in 2017.
- Through this involvement, I connected with experts like Peter Asaro from The New School in New York, who was instrumental in the IEEE’s ethics conversations and reports on autonomous systems.
- The International Committee on Robotics Arms Control, where I serve as vice chair, is an interdisciplinary community with members worldwide.
34:36- What do you think the world is going to look like in 2025?
- I believe we have gathered enough evidence to confidently state that AI can be harnessed for the greater good of humanity.
- While the next two to three years may pose challenges for humanity, including increased conflicts and ecological threats, I remain optimistic.
- We can confront the realities of climate chaos and the challenges posed by AI, while also envisioning a future where we scale up the use of technology for good.
- By incorporating the perspectives and aspirations of youth, we can shape a future that holds great promise.
