About Ross Symons
- He is an artist and a creative entrepreneur, and he turned his passion into his profession.
- He was not very interested in school and needed help paying attention there.

06:16- What is the process you follow when you start creating an origami piece?
- When I started my origami journey, I decided that I wanted to understand the principles of design of origami which is something, not many enthusiasts do.
- If someone comes to me with a design and I have designed something similar to what they want before then I use that as a base.
- Once I have the base, I then start to get creative and try to get the appendages in the right place.
14:32- What is the relation between origami and other forms of arts?
- I think what sets origami apart is that it has some limitations such as you start from a single piece of paper and a lot of technical limitations.
- I am not saying other art forms don’t have technical limitations, but if you are a sculptor, or you are drawing something you have a canvas, and you just start making what you want.
- What has made a huge difference for me is that I have understood that I have limitations on just one sheet of paper.
16:15- Do you think origami has evolved over time and are there any new trends?
- I believe that origami has evolved a lot in the 70–80 years because of its increasing popularity and the internet.
- It has also inspired a lot of other innovations in space travel where they need something to be compact but then expand when they get into space.
- It has also inspired the innovation of stents. What it does is that it goes into the artery and expands the artery. It is not made of paper obviously, but it’s inspired by the origami concept.
