Overview

Are you stressed?

Are you doing something about it?

Oh, you don’t have time!

Don’t worry, it just takes 60 seconds to release stress.

Don’t believe me?

I’ll tell you how it is done:)

About 28 years ago, when Kanchan moved to the North American continent, she saw a disturbing fact of everyone running in a rat race. She tells us that she found out that everybody was constantly stressed, they were just running without a sense of destination.

That was the time Kanchan realized those people needed a little bit of education and awareness about their inner self. Initially, Kanchan started to talk to people around her, made them do breathing exercises for 10 minutes to release their stress.

As the pandemic hit, the situation worsened. She could see more stress around her. She tells us that everybody was in a rush and did not even have 10 minutes to release their stress. To fight this situation, she combined all her knowledge to develop a 60 seconds technique to release stress.

She calls it your 60 seconds to reclaim your inner well-being.

Our guest for today Dr. Kanchan Anand is a doctor specializing in medians nephrology. She has been practicing her profession in Washington DC for over two decades. She chairs the Bioethics Committee.

She has been awarded and recognized several times. She started as an entrepreneur in solo practice and now works with the largest health system in her area.

The 60 seconds Relaxation technique

The 60 seconds Relaxation technique is based on three principles:

Deep Breathing

-Brain and breathing mirror each other. This is why when someone is agitated, they generally breathe fast.

-If you breathe slowly and deeply, it calms your mind down.

-It also releases serotonin and dopamine in the neurotransmitters of the brain.

Connecting with the positivity of the Universe

-You do not realize that your surroundings are draining you.

-It is very important to stop, breathe and connect with the positivity of the universe.

Gratitude

-Gratitude multiplies what we have received.

-When you engage with the feeling of gratitude, it instantly connects you with positivity.

How many times can a person do the 60 seconds technique in a day?

This technique can be done multiple times in a day. Dr. Kanchan recommends doing the 60 seconds relaxation technique at least twice during your working hours and before going to bed.

She says as you feel calm, relaxed, and positive before going to bed, your whole night converts into a positive mode. Due to this, you wake up fresh and ready for a new day.

Stress Management

What is stress and how does it affect our body?

Stress is something not at norm. When you are feeling uneasy and something is constantly bothering you that you are not able to get rid of would define stress.

Our body has a sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system. When the sympathetic system gets stimulated due to stress, it traces your heartbeat and makes you feel edgy.

How does one measure stress?

Dr. Kanchan tells us that researchers have developed certain tools containing questionnaires and more to measure the stress level in a person. However, in her case, the patients themselves guess their stress level from zero to five.

Zero is no stress and five is the maximum level of stress. They decrease or increase it on the basis of how they are feeling.
