Dr. Shyam Vasudeva Rao who is the founder of first of its kind RenalyX Health Systems holds a doctorate in Real-Time Embedded Systems. He has specialized in Parallel Computer Architecture from the Indian Institute of Science (gold Medal) & has been with CG Smith, Ericsson, Tata Consultancy Services and as Director of Technology at Philips. He was instrumental in devising one of the first hardware-based antivirus solutions in the 90s.

Dr. Shyam Vasudev Rao has thought way ahead of time, while it is practically impossible to have the required number of doctors for the ever-increasing renal patients. Dr. Rao has come up with tele-nephrologists, where the Doctor will stay in touch with the patients virtually and would intervene when needed. Dr. Rao explains the intricacies of this comparatively new technology where care is patient-specific and would likely help them know at an early stage.

While Kidney diseases are asymptomatic, there is no indication beforehand, Dr. Shyam explains why a venture like this is important for people. He also highlights the dearth of medical doctors and the expenses related to the issues when it the kidney.

More About Dr. Shyam

Apart from his successful venture RenalyX, in 2010, he also started Forus Health, which as the name suggests is providing services for the community. This venture of his focuses on the health of the eyes and Teeth. In addition to his illustrious career, Dr. Shyam has also established university relationships for joint research programs to work on wireless technology and medical electronics with IISc, IIT Mumbai, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Guwahati, Maastricht University & Alborg University.

He did his engineering and masters in Electronics from SJCE, Mysore University. His first innovation was a hardware antivirus solution called Knox card.

He co-invented this in 1989 and this led to a start-up called Knoxware which was one the first to come up with such a unique solution to computer virus protection in a generic way.
