DISCUSSION

Ave talks about the importance of working in a team and, thus, explains the meaning of systemic team coaching. She says, “Every team member is also a member of the family system. Every team is part of an organization, and every organization is a part of a country and the larger world.”

Coach Vs. Family Elder

Ave compares the importance of relying on coaching for objective guidance. She feels that the unintentional biases of a family member often come in while coaching. She explains, “If a family elder is coaching, it is because he thinks something is right for you. But professionals do not have preconceptions about you, and they do not push you in a certain direction.”

She further lays down several parameters for judging if a coach is working for a person or not, emphasizing objectivity as the most critical.

Ave’s Value System

Ave feels culture plays a critical role in coaching. She feels coaches should be well aware of the culture they are coaching in. She tries to be supportive of her coaches and challenge them to do things they might think are otherwise impossible.

Millennials Vs Senior Leaders

Oftentimes, there is a clash of thought processes between the millennials and Gen Zs with the older leaders who are more conservative in their approach. The current generation of employees wants some freedom in executing their roles. Ave says, “They need to find a middle ground. There is nothing wrong with being a bit conservative. Even doing things differently is not bad.”
