Overview

The world is in the hands of founders who dare to risk everything for their vision and try to make it come true. Founders have to face a lot of challenges, and they need a lot of guidance. On top of that, female founders require more empowerment because they often face discouragement from people. Today we have Jaclynn to tell us about the challenges that are faced by female entrepreneurs and how she is helping them in their journey.

About Jaclynn Brennan

  • Jaclynn Brennan is the Chief Executive Officer of Fyli.

02:24- Tell me a little bit about your venture and how are you supporting early-stage female founders.

  • Fyli stands for a tribe in Greek and family in Latin. We are considered a mastermind community.
  • We provide education resources, accountability, peer-to-peer mentorship, and funding opportunities for these early-stage founders.
  • When the world shut down in 2020 due to covid, we gave 150 free master classes which helped us build our network.

05:59- How does Fyli support women in funding?

  • We try to match make, but before we get to that point, we help women understand if they even need funding.
  • And if they require funding then what type of funding? Can they bootstrap? Should they raise money from friends and family? Should they go for debt or equity or a mix of both?
  • We try to help them map out the capital and think about their 18 monthly plan. Then we provide them with the resources and help them prepare for their pitch.

10:57- At what stage should one think about building a personal brand?

  • We did not have social media when we were in college so we did not have this opportunity back then but social media is used by almost everyone today.
  • I believe we should start building a brand as soon as we get into college so that we have more time to learn about what really goes into building one.
  • Also, the potential employer can see what you are all about by looking at your social media these days, so you have to be careful about how you are building your brand.
