00:33- About Sameer Somal

  • Sameer Somal is the CEO of Blue Ocean Global Technology and Co-Founder of Girl Power Talk.
  • He is a CFA Charterholder, a CFP professional, and a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst.
  • He leads client engagements focused on digital transformation, risk management, and technology development.

07:30- What intrigued you to take the path you took educationally, then you went into finance, and then you went into technology and legal industries when you founded Blue Ocean Global Technology? Tell us about that journey that started with education.

  • I was driven by a desire to do work that truly interested me, rather than just pursuing a job for the sake of financial rewards or conventional markers of success.
  • I was willing to experiment, learn, and figure things out along the way, rather than feeling pressure to have my entire career path planned out from the start.
  • I prioritised finding ways to derive meaningful satisfaction and fulfilment from my work, even if it meant making certain sacrifices in the short term.

33:18- What are you most grateful for? And what are you most hopeful for?

  • I’m grateful for the simple joys in life, like flowers, snow, and peace, as well as the positive energy I receive from helping others and making a difference.
  • I am grateful for being in a position where I can make even small differences in people’s lives, such as helping a young woman in Nigeria set up her website and cover her rent.
  • I’m most hopeful for a brighter future for youth, particularly in empowering women and providing more opportunities, as I see this as an important step in addressing historical injustices and unlocking the full potential of society.
