Overview

We read and hear about new technologies coming up almost every day. Sometimes, these seem to be too complex to understand, But when broken down, it all boils down to effective communication that needs to be done in companies to enable achieving organizational goals. Futurist sees the impact of new technologies well in advance and become early adopters to enable those around them to see the benefits and adopt them. In today’s episode, we discuss what does a convergence futurist role entail and how they see these new technologies.

[00:37] – About Scott Brown

  • Scott is a convergence futurist.
  • He is also the founder and chief executive officer of MOS Future.
  • He is also an author and has written extensively about new technologies and marketing.

[02:07] – What does a convergence futurist do?

  • Convergence means bringing three rivers into one mighty river.
  • You take the power of those rivers and bring them into something super powerful.
  • I have been studying Web3, NFT, and artificial intelligence since 2016. I have written a book on all these aspects of artificial intelligence in digital marketing.

[03:54] – How do you see the convergence of different technology, which is artificial intelligence, blockchain, the internet of things, biotech, and metaverse?

  • There needs to be somebody who actually does the convergence.
  • You’ve got separate companies for tokenization and artificial intelligence. They are all moving in the same direction, but there is no one that’s putting it together.
  • You can go as an AI company. But if you went with another company as a Web3, platform to actually take it into a Metaverse and have NFT that is unregulated that musicians could actually make money with without having a record label, then you bring in convergence.

[06:17] – How do you think a lot of these technologies will affect the job market and education? And how can the young actually prepare for these incredible new seismic changes that are happening?

  • It is not going to replace humans. We create the technology, somebody has to technology, someone has to harness the technology, and someone has to do that. It’ll take away some jobs that people have, it’ll take away some menial jobs because we’re already seeing that.
  • We are also seeing it in other technology and other industries in healthcare. Sometimes you can actually have artificial intelligence doing surgery on you, without a human, but guided by you.
