- The developmental editor is crucial in book projects. They ensure the best presentation, structure, and cohesive elements of the manuscript. They review the core message, flow, and ideal reader engagement to create a cohesive body of work.
- A story consultant is responsible for enhancing storytelling across different mediums, ensuring a compelling and cohesive narrative.
[07:07] – How do you tackle the challenge of balancing giving feedback that is constructive while also preserving the voice of the author?
- One of the reasons I don’t do ghostwriting is because I really value the unique voice of every author.
- Sometimes, it involves cleaning up the language or suggesting alternative ways to tell the story. Other times, it is about informing the writer to ensure there are no sensitivity issues with the way a particular story is presented.
- Balancing the good feedback with the notes is really more about agreeing these are the strengths of the overall body of work and here’s what I think we want to work on.
