[03:32] – How do you define “civilizational greatness?”
- Greatness is something beyond the ordinary. That is a broad understanding of greatness.
- I don’t think you can define greatness except to feel it. In the presence of creativity, you feel that this is something extraordinary. You can’t measure it easily.
- A great sportsman, a great writer, a great statesman or a great human being like Gandhi, the greatness just oozes out. It’s there, and you feel it as human beings.
[16:57] – How can our diverse cultural heritage contribute to civilizational greatness?
- Many people think that diversity occurs when people can’t agree, or they quarrel all the time.
- That was true in the past when there was a very rigid caste system, making it difficult for people to interact across hierarchy and a rigid religious system which made it difficult for people to interact across religious boundaries.
- Today, those things are certainly falling, especially in cities.
- The companies have employees from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds. We find food from different regions at one place.
