A UNESCO report stated that India has 57,72,472 children below five years affected by severe wasting, leading to malnourishment. A healthy mind can sustain inside a healthy body. Yet another plague, for the majority of the children in India, is the lack of access to quality education. Several NGOs come up to create an impact in the lives of such children. Today, we talk to Saloni Bhardwaj, co-founder of Lotus Petal Foundation, which works to create equal and best opportunities for underprivileged children.

[07:06] – Tell me about some nutrition challenges that children face in our country.

  • We need to do justice to the kind of food and nutrition that we provide.
  • There are people who don’t get food and people who get food are not eating the right food.
  • For the underprivileged, there is limited access to good food, limited access to food storage, and limited knowledge of what is proper food.
  • At Lotus Petal, we believe that food comes before education. There is no education for a body that is not healthy and well-nourished.
  • We have a very focused approach towards early child care and nutrition.

  • A leader is a leader, be it any organisation.
