Overview

We are all on a journey of life, trying to figure out our purpose. With the constant rat race around us, we tend to fall prey to the path of life that society has decided for us. Eventually, we end up losing our spark. It is paramount to draw constant inspiration from things, places, and people around us to chart our unique life paths.

Today, we have Tony Martegnetti, an inspiration purpose coach, who talks about how he helps people bring back the lost sparks of life.

About Tony Martegnetti

Tony Martegnetti is the founder & chief inspiration officer of Inspired Purpose Coaching. The organization helps corporate leaders and employees to navigate their path for an inspired and fulfilled life.

He has worked with leading life science companies and hosts a podcast called, “Virtual Campfire”. Tony has also authored a book titled, “Climbing the Right Mountain: Navigating the Journey to an Inspired Life.”

DISCUSSION

Tony talks about his book that is about the importance of passion in life. He talks about charting out our unique paths in life and not blindly following the set rules by society. He says, “We need to realize that people have great intentions for us, but they are not me.”

To navigate the life path, he emphasizes the importance of two elements:

  • Realizing that the next step is not the place to be happy. We need to find fulfillment in the current step of our life.
  • Growth is uncomfortable and challenging.

He recommends a step to judge if one is on the right path or not. He says, “Plan your week. If you don’t have anything in the week that is exciting, then maybe you are in the wrong place.”

Drawing Inspiration

Tony explains the importance of constant inspiration. He further shows a way to draw it from every day, little practices. He explains inspiration as little communication with our soul’s purpose.

Furthermore, he says, “You have to stay open to the things that are showing up and lighting you up. Have to look at every single step you take as an opportunity to learn something about who you are meant to be and who you are becoming.”

Tony also narrates interesting case studies of how he helped people navigate their life in their desired direction.

Changing Attitude Towards Coaching

Lately, people have realized the importance of professional coaching. They are even willing to pay for it. Tony explains the reasons:

  • It gives them an external view from somebody who comes from outside the family dynamics or from the company, giving one that ability to free oneself.
  • It gives them a medium to open up and share things they wouldn’t normally share.

He talks at great length about understanding cultures as a coach. Tony understands that his job is not to dictate to people what to do but to give them insights.

He also talks about the relationship that a coachee and a coach should share.

  • The energy of the two people needs to match for the process of coaching to start
  • The coachee should be honest if the coaching is helping or not. The coach should also take the feedback constructively.
