Overview

With the current life where we experience constant pressure and stress, anxiety-driven behaviour patterns have become common. We often spend lots of energy complaining and finding faults in others. But what will happen if we try to control our responses to situations and try to act with optimism? Often easier said than done, the practice might sound difficult at first, but is not impossible. Today, we discuss with the world’s guru of optimism, how to inculcate it in our life.

[00:37] – About Lenny Ravich

  • Lenny is the director of the Gestalt Institute in Israel.
  • He is the co-founder of “Delivering Delight”.
  • He is referred to as the world’s guru in optimism.
  • Lenny is the author of a book titled, “Everlasting Optimism”.
  • He describes how he never had any goal except to be here.
  • Lenny was an actor for some time in New York, and later became interested in teaching.

[03:20] – Tell me about gestalt practice.

  • It is a form of psychology because it is a way of meeting other people that are here.
  • In this practice, the therapist and the person coming in for the client are the same.
  • As a result, things start coming up that need to be closed.
  • Gestalt is a closure or a meaningful hole. All of us are not complete in certain areas of our life. Gestalt helps to close the gaps, maybe in relationships, health, the way we think, or the way we were educated.

[05:44] – What do you mean by Gestalt Awareness and healing therapy by humour, creativity, and laughter?

  • When people do not laugh, they are going to look at the world as a very serious place. I give experiential workshops where people find their own humour.
  • It is about not just living your life but about enjoying the process like watching a movie with popcorn.
  • It helps people get rid of anxiety and stress. When you begin to step back from life and begin to see the humour and begin to laugh.

[13:37] – Help me understand why you are called the world’s guru in optimism.

  • I wrote the book, “Everlasting Optimism”. It is often debated how can optimism be everlasting.
  • In my book wrote, I talk about my journey and how I handled the situations that flipped them into optimistic outcomes.
  • There is something that I learned from Jack Canfield, E plus R equals O. This refers to event plus response leading to an outcome. It means you are responsible for whatever is happening in your life.
  • My book gives those tools to people, with the last chapter being the summary of all the lessons.
