[00:33] – About Jeremy Barr

  • Jeremy is Rocket Mindset CEO and the Chief Operating Officer of VC investor.
  • Jeremy is building the largest investor and founder network globally.

[03:59] – What inspired you to become a mentor for leaders and founders? Was there any particular experience or person that motivated you to move in this direction?

  • I started off as a student getting poor grades in school. My mom was a teacher who took me out of school for seventh grade to build up my confidence loop,  which I now use in the founder and leadership mentoring.
  • She put me back into public school where I was getting A’s and B’s and getting good grades.
  • There was another key point in my life where I had been CTO for five years, managed teams of people, but I could only talk about technology in business and I had to then become social.
  • I was anti-social, I could talk tech in business but no more than a sentence if we’re going out to hang out.
  • I used my algorithm mindset to create a social algorithm. For six months straight, I was going out every single night with friends socially and that is what allowed me to start connecting and relating to lots of different human beings, different educational backgrounds and this is what I teach.

[07:07] – How do you help leaders and founders overcome challenges?

  • Many founders and leaders experience imposter syndrome and struggle with maintaining focus.
  • I share with them that we are constantly in a state of growth, always expanding into new domains.
  • As soon as we become proficient at something, we often become complacent or disinterested in it. Many people fail to realize this repetitive pattern.
  • As you progress through new levels, you might think, “That’s easy, now I want to move to the next level and continue growing.” However, during the growth process, you may feel uncomfortable once again.
  • To realise that you’re always going to be in that uncomfortable space, you’re always going to be growing into something new which means you’re always going to be feeling a bit like an imposter.
