[00:59] – Explain the concept of personal branding and its importance.

  • We all have a personal brand: you know who you are and how people describe you and feel about you. 
  • But there are also two parts to that: there is the part of who you are as a human being which really doesn’t change over time but your credibility can change over time because sometimes our careers move.
  • We look at personal branding from the concept of your core human. 
  • Who you are and what you do is the other part of the description.

[03:46] – What are your thoughts on people identifying what is unique about them?

  • The first thing is you are the only human being on the planet that has your experience. 
  • The first thing you look at is your credibility; what are you known for today and what are your passions and interests.
  • We work with clients in a two-hour meeting with an idea to try to uncover it but today the easiest way to do it is to say this, “What do people say about me when I’m not in the room?” 
  • “What are the attributes that they have and then is it consistent with what I want the world to know about me?” 
  • Then you need a plan to figure out how to move that.

[09:06] – How important is consistency when one is building a personal brand? What are some strategies to be able to maintain this consistency?

  • The two things that matter are good content and consistency,
  • It doesn’t necessarily have to be perfect or long content. With YouTube shorts, TikTok and Instagram Reels we see more of shorter content because you’re dealing with people who have limited attention spans.
  • If you were to do something, do it consistently over time because the algorithm needs that. 
  • You either get help or put it in your schedule. For instance, from eight to nine o’clock on Tuesday and on Thursday, you need to post.
