Overview

We don’t focus much on learning once we get busy with our careers. We start focusing on our promotions and salary but not much on upskilling even though we know that we can advance in our careers if we keep on learning. In today’s world with technology advancing at such a fast pace, we need to be more and more agile to stay ahead of the competition or to even be in the competition. Today we have Ramakrishna with us to elaborate on this.

03:14- What does your role entail?

  • It is mainly focused on the capability building of the organization.
  • It has three main aspects- Sales, Manufacturing & Business Services.
  • It includes anything and everything from hiring people, aligning them with our values, building for the future, development in terms of future plans, etc.

09:20- How is technology transforming L&D?

  • Technology is essentially democratizing L&D. It has been increasing the scalability and relevance of learning.
  • Technology has made L&D very dynamic which in turn requires us to be much more agile than we used to be.
  • Technology has also made personalized learning possible by making the assessment of employees easier and faster than before.

16:57- How much role does culture play in promoting continuous learning?

  • I believe there are two types of learning. One is for self-development and the other is which also supports organizational development.
  • When you have a culture in which the leaders are learning and improving consistently, everybody sees learning as an integral and appreciable part of the organization.
  • If you have a culture where people think you are not focusing on your job well enough if you have time to learn, then people learn to expect punishment for learning.
