In this very interesting episode of The Brand Called You, we bring you Andy Chen, President of IEEE Technology and Engineering Management Society. Andy is also the Founding Managing Partner of REDDS Capital and the President and CEO of Catronic Enterprise.  Andy talks to us about all the things related to energy. He shares the key moments in his life. Getting diagnosed with scoliosis and moving to the States was one of them. Andy has worked at Ontario Power Generation(OPG) and he shares his knowledge of energy production with us.  Andy tells us that the usage of nuclear energy is a political decision. He shares that France and Russia are the most nuclear-friendly countries. Although a safer energy option, people are tending towards more sustainable energy sources these days because of the environmental impact of non-renewable energy sources. Andy also shares his views on renewable sources of energy, like solar power and he informs us that nothing is absolutely safe for our environment, since the land used for solar energy production cannot be used for agriculture. Andy also talks about the surplus energy produced by a few countries which are being wasted due to the lack of storage units and tells us how this can be tackled. He shares how energy is not costly itself but the management cost is high.  Towards the end of the interview, Andy shares his positive views on success and advises young professionals to treat people with respect. Andy is the President & CEO of a global consulting firm. The firm’s principal business is to provide consulting services for the utility industry worldwide. Andy is a senior business advisor for several leading global consulting firms and enterprise software vendors. Andy held the position of the Chief Technology Officer and Vice President, Enterprise Strategy and Architecture of the largest Canadian-based electricity generator. He also served as the chair of ABB International User Board of Directors.
Andy is the President, IEEE Technology and Engineering Management Society (TEMS) a member of the Board of Governors 2018-2020 for IEEE Computer Society (CS). IEEE and its members inspire a global community to innovate for a better tomorrow through its more than 423,000 members in over 160 countries, and its highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities. IEEE is the trusted “voice” for engineering, computing, and technology information around the globe. Andy participates in the United Nations Global Pulse’s Data Privacy Advisory Group. He is also a director for the Federation of Enterprise Architecture Professional Organizations’ board and a member of the Technical Advisory Council for the FinTech Ideas Festival. He also served as the Chair of the Technical Advisory Council for YinTech Investment Holding Ltd. As an internationally recognized speaker, Andy was a keynote speaker at the UN ITU Telecom World and AI for Good Global Summit, the World Computer Congress, the World CIO Forum, and the Digital Africa Conference.
