02:11- What were some of the biggest challenges you faced when you took over the business? And how did you overcome them?

  • I had a PR challenge to address as the media falsely claimed we were downsizing, harming customer and investor confidence.
  • I had to reconstruct the executive team to support the change in business after losing key leadership roles and needing new skills to lead the company.
  • I built an advisory board and support network of experienced leaders through YPO who could provide critical advice and an empathetic ear as I navigated uncharted waters.

  • Most important is to believe in yourself – I knew I had the skills and confidence to step into a leadership role, even without prior business experience.
  • Be fully present wherever you are – I was able to focus at work knowing my kids were cared for at home.
  • Give yourself grace and flexibility – Unusual things will surface on top of a full plate, and that’s okay. Look how much you have accomplished already. Give yourself a pep talk.
