Sex Education is a type of education that involves acquiring information and forming attitudes and beliefs about human sexual anatomy, sexual reproduction, sexual intercourse, reproductive health, emotional relations, reproductive rights and responsibilities, contraception, and other aspects of human sexual behavior. Sex education is also referred to as Sexuality Education as it covers all aspects of sexuality including dating, relationships, sexually transmitted infections, etc. Barkha Tripathi, Co-Founder, of The Zero Period talks to us about Comprehensive Sexuality Education.

• The Zero Period is essentially a non-profit organization that works to introduce and integrate comprehensive sexuality.
• Comprehensive Sexuality Education is something of personal interest as well as something that I saw culturally as a problem that was the motivation to start.

04:52- What is the meaning of age-appropriate sexuality education?

• Comprehensive sexuality education is just highly misunderstood because people don’t understand that like any other subject, even sexuality education is something that should be graded.
• When we say age appropriation or age-appropriate CSE so that also evolves with the growing child and that’s how ideally, in any country or in any space, it should be taught.

 07:31- The name -The Zero Period

• I’m not sure how many can relate to it, but in a class called the zero period, which is the earliest in the day when students come to the school.
• The idea actually came from there that if we were to actually imagine a world where CSE  incorporates into a school life, where would it fall.

19:58- Three lessons

• Understand that your child will learn things about their society, about their environment, subconsciously.
• They will actually need to unlearn and active conscious information building from your side to actually live in a very equitable mindset in this world.
• People who are in their late 20s to their 30s, they are at the break of a cultural shift. They are actually the bridge between the newer generation and the older generation.
