Overview
The world is home to 1.3 billion people with disabilities. With a population that large, accessible, safe and empathetic environments are the need of the hour.Â
So the question rises:
Is our global infrastructure accessible to the disabled community?
The Brand Called You welcomes female leader and entrepreneur Neha Arora. Neha is the Founder of Planet Abled, a venture focused on providing accessible and inclusive travel solutions for people and persons of all types of disabilities. She is the recipient of the national award for tourism.
In an articulate conversation with host Ashutosh Garg, Neha talks about her journey of establishing Planet Abled and the status of accessibility in India and several other countries. After having some very uncomfortable and bad experiences while travelling with her disabled parents, Neha realised that travel facilities and inaccessible infrastructure makes it very difficult for special travellers to have a convenient experience. This led her to intensive research, data collection with respect to travellers and accessibility.Â
After which, she started her own venture that provides inclusive solutions for disabled travelers. Her travel trips are inclusive and a diverse mixture of the disabled and non disabled persons as well. She strongly believes that disability shouldn’t define group or travel dynamics. Neha has changed the game with her business and is an avid supporter and worker of the disabled community. She believes that the bigger problem is not the National policies but the attitude of people towards the community. Neha explains how the pandemic has affected most travel companies all over the world. She also speaks about how places like Kerala and Singapore are very well known for their accessible infrastructure and facilities. She strongly believes that there is a lot of scope in India to provide apt opportunities for the disabled community.Â
Tune in to find out more about her wonderful work.Â
