[16:20] – What is the Entrepreneurship program within the IEEE? How did you become involved with it?

  • It is a community that serves as a platform for members interested in startups, innovation, and entrepreneurial pursuits.
  • I became involved with it when, as an investor with startup experience, I offered to help and connect with the community through her engagement with Andy Chen.

[24:15] – What is the distinction between hard tech and deep tech within the context of the Entrepreneurship program?

  • The term “hard tech” is used to emphasise that the technology being developed has a hardware component.
  • It includes deep tech but is more specific about the hardware focus.
  • Deep tech, on the other hand, is based on extensive research and includes hardware components but is not limited to them, encompassing technologies like AI and quantum computing.

[46:38] – Final recommendations for the audience.

  • For Researchers: Assess the commercial potential of your research and explore collaborations with industry.
  • For Industry Professionals: Stay open to innovations from startups, integrate new technologies, and consistently seek ways to enhance your bottom line.
