On today’s episode of The Brand Called You, we have an extremely talented and accomplished woman, Mrs. Puja Bhakoo. Mrs. Bhakoo is a Tapestry Artist, a writer, blogger as well as a poet! She finished her undergraduate degree in Home Science and her postgraduate degree in Public Administration.
Following her passion in embroidery she started a seasonal embroidery business PJ Crafts. However to work full time and pursue embroidery as a hobby, she shifted to Chandigarh where she plunged into Advertising. She has worked extensively in the fields of marketing and advertising before her early retirement at the age of fifty. She and her husband decided to give more time to their auxiliary hobbies. And so she started tapestry making and blogging. She threw light on the meaning of Tapestries, Needle Point Art. She started an initiative called Tapestry for charity where she makes and sells tapestries and whose profits are given to charity. Her plan is to turn ideas into a work of art. Talking about her passion for writing, she mentioned that she writes blogs on life experiences and social and political issues. She also mentions that writing helps declutter her mind
Talking about the new generation, Mrs. Bhakoo mentioned that since tapestry making is labour intensive, not a lot of people consider it as a commercial option. Bhakoos’s inspiration is life itself. She suggests learning from failure and to keep moving forward!
