Overview

We often discuss situations of people who are unable to find suitable jobs post finishing their studies. But does the lack of employability always indicate fewer vacancies, or can it also point to the lack of practical skills in the country’s potential workforce? What are the loopholes in the education system that lead to this lack of skills? How can employability be increased along with the push for entrepreneurial culture? We have your questions covered in our discussion with Mr. Rajesh Gopal.

[00:52] – About Rajesh Gopal

  • Rajesh is the co-founder of Self Achievers.
  • He is a business strategy consultant and a micro-learning evangelist.
  • He is creating a talent pool of entrepreneurs.
  • Rajesh is also a business advisor and brand strategy consultant.

[05:22] – How are you achieving “employability enhancement, consulting, and experiential learning”?

  •  Employability enhancement goes to one of my experiences of the past when I put together India’s first employability certification skill assessment program where the focus was enabling students from not-so-privileged colleges to get interviewed by top organisations on the basis of employability quotient.
  • The idea was to bring transparency to the whole system and provide a merit-based recruitment platform for the students.
  • We are now focusing on the skills that people need to have to be employed.
  • In experiential learning space, we equip students with skills like collaboration and communication
  • We organise boot camps like workshops where the focus is beyond theory on learning by doing.

[12:14] – What are the qualities a startup entrepreneur needs to have?

  • Humility is the key. There is vision and passion, as lots of people will try to discourage at first.
  • Next, comes the importance of being focused and persistent.
  • The most important is the ability to get the right people on the bus.
