Overview

World peace is a concept that has been sought after by humanity since time immemorial. It refers to a state of global harmony, where all nations, people, and cultures coexist peacefully, without fear, conflict, or violence. The importance of world peace cannot be overstated. It is a crucial element for human progress, prosperity, and well-being. Today we have David L Steinberg, the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize Nominee to talk to us about world peace.

06:24- Challenges facing the world in achieving peace and solutions to address these challenges

  • One of the biggest challenges is not to blame the other person for your feelings. Because I believe you create your enemies and friends.
  • See your spiritual reflection in the mirror and what can you do to change. Peace starts within.
  • If there is peace inside of you, there is peace in the family.

08:15- How do you believe literature and the arts can contribute to promoting peace and understanding between different cultures and societies?

  • I believe if we fight, we can fight with our words. We can disagree with our words.
  • I wish to listen to other people’s opinions, even if our opinions vary. It is important for me to internally interpret what they are saying, so I can understand it better.

11:13- How can individuals and communities get involved in promoting peace and making a positive difference in the world?

  • One thing that I notice is that we do not take the time to listen to each other. We want to give our opinion and sometimes talk over other people.
  • We need a bit of patience and try to understand things from another person’s standpoint.
  • When there is understanding, there is a connection, and then that can ease the stress between people and help to promote peace.
