  • Amit Jain is the Co-Founder of a social venture called Mitti Ke Rang, which is working towards generating livelihood for women through an e-commerce platform.
  • Amit is also a budget traveler. He has 80+ cities for 17,500 INR.
  • His mission is to cover K2K & A2B – Kanyakumari to Kashmir & Arunachal to Bombay 6147 km as a Digital Nomad.

  • Mitti Ke Rang is a social venture which is working towards generating livelihood for women by selling its products through its e-commerce platform made by women entrepreneurs from across India.
  • It is a marketplace for women entrepreneurs who are running small businesses.
  • We onboard them on the platform and support them in terms of marketing, sales, and tech.

[01:24] Motivation to focus on Women Entrepreneurs

  • I lost my father at a very young age.
  • My family supported me and my mother.
  • In 2012, I got a job with the Bank of New York in Pune, we thought it is time to give back to society.
  • We started donating clothes, books, and food in the slums.

[02:57] Challenges while scaling up

  • I always questioned myself if I am doing right or wrong.
  • Convincing family and friends to become a full-time entrepreneurs and leaving the job was a big challenge.
  • When we leaped into e-commerce and onboarded thousands of products, the pandemic hit. Logistics became a challenge for us.

[07:50] How do you decide on the product for onboarding?

  • The business should be run by a Woman Entrepreneur!

[08:24] Stories of working with Women Entrepreneurs

We started working with 15-year-old Ankita and her products are of great quality. After we marketed her product, she started getting more orders and attention. Colleges are approaching her because they want her to guide their students on entrepreneurship. This proves age is not a factor anymore.

[10:35] How is more money in the hands of women changing the perspective of the men?

At the start, the husband, and the family really oppose the idea of women working. But in the end, when they see that the women have worked hard and earned a good sum, they become the biggest supporters.

[14:36] Supply Chain Challenges

We have entrepreneurs from Arunachal Pradesh to Kanyakumari across the country. Our entrepreneurs are majorly from remote areas, only post offices are available. We are trying a point of contact in these locations who can help these women.

[18:57] How are the younger generations changing the social sector?

  • More youth are being driven towards impact.
